India-Bangkok highway to start soon

Thailand packages under air-flights may soon be history! A highway connecting India and Bangkok is about to get constructed and this could well be a start of an extremely healthy relationship between the two destinations as far as tourism is considered.

It may sound a little unconvincing since Bangkok is not exactly the next-door neighbor of India. But the plans have already been chalked out and they do not appear impossible. A highway beginning from India’s Assam and running all the way through the country of Myanmar till Bangkok is now on the cards. This means, that you will be able to drive all the way from your home town to the city known best for its exotic malls, iconic floating markets and the pious Buddhist temples.

India Bangkok Highway

Bangkok has always been a firm favorite with the Indian honeymooners. The flight tickets to the city are very cheap, considering that they are international flights. A two-way journey usually costs somewhere around 14k though you can enjoy further discounts if you latch on to some cool Thailand packages. The current lot of friends, families and honeymooners are seeing Bangkok as a highly attractive, wholesome and pocket-friendly foreign destination.

So, the big honchos from the tourism departments from both the countries have joined hands to cement a beautiful road which will connect Assam and Bangkok. Myanmar which lies in between has also agreed to invest in the venture. It also means that Myanmar may soon get to enjoy a higher tourist count from the Indian cities.

As per the proposed plan, the highway shall be ready by late 2015 or early 2016. So, you just need to wait for 2-3 years before you can enjoy that quintessential ‘long’ drive all the way to the capital of Thailand.

The only glitch in the plan may be the heavy fuel costs which you may have to bear. The rate at which petrol prices in our country is going up, the road trip from India to Bangkok may leave you empty by a huge sum. On the upside, you may just experience the greatest road trip of your life.

The icing on the cake will be the fact that the road trip will enable you to check out a bit of Myanmar since you will need to wade through its belly in order to reach Bangkok.

The project has just been proposed and we do expect a lot of craters ahead. It may still be a dream, though not a distant one as of now. For the time being, you can just check out the delights of Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi and even Bangkok with the flight-inclusive Thailand honeymoon packages.

5 things to buy cheap in Bangkok

Bangkok packages have become dirt cheap. So, if you are telling us that your cat is vomiting and you don’t have the money to plan this trip, we are not going to buy your theory. There are some inexpensive and all-inclusive Thailand packages which we have rolled out recently especially for such reluctant travelers like you. So, get set for a Thai trip, for it is in our bucket list to send you to this country.

Now that a Bangkok holiday has been finalized, here are a few words which we are itching to say (but couldn’t say earlier since your trip was yet to be finalized). At Bangkok, which is famously called as Asia’s shopping bag (okay, we just made that up), you can pick up anything and everything (and that too cheap).

Five things that you can buy really cheap (make that really really cheap) are as follows:

Movies: We know that the current generation of folks loves to watch movies on their lappies. But spending Rs 800 on that newly released Aamir Khan DVD is just not an Indian habit. We revel in our pirated copies, don’t we? And Bangkok will give you access to all kinds of international movies at really low prices.

Clothes: Oh, this one should interest girls. Women love to hoard clothes, no matter whether they wear them or not. At Bangkok, they can buy them cheap. Best places are roadside stalls.

Pratunam-Market

Watches: Men like watches and they have this strange fascination for Rolex. Buying them in India can be a heart-attack-giving moment for a true miser. In Bangkok, you can get them cheap (actually very cheap) since they are intelligently-done imitations.

Mobile phones: Ah, the average Indian swears by the delights of smartphones. Why not buy them from Bangkok where you can get electronics at very low prices. But personally, we would say- be a bit careful while buying costly phones. Instead, better go for less-risky accessories.

Jewelry: Coming back to women, they love to make a dash to jewelry stores. Here in Bangkok, they can shop for custom jewelry without breaking the financial ribcage of their husbands.

Phuket nightlife: Beach, bar and sex in the city

Phuket has a happening nightlife and that is one good thing which tourists really like about this part of Thailand. Patong Beach itself is a great place to while away a few hours after dusk and is a part and parcel of Phuket nightlife. Out on the streets, the town is flooded with all sorts of night clubs including the gay bars and those clubs where pole dances by hot girls are a regular ritual. Ladyboys are also in demand in Thailand, and Phuket is no different.

Bangla Road is the sexiest thing about Phuket nightlife and almost all the major discos and clubs are situated here. Soi Tiger is a popular den of the night hunters and its biggest USP is its ambiance and location. Tiger Disco sits above Soi Tiger and promises a lot of fun. These clubs in this part of the world are pretty colorful, outrageously garish and a bit too loud. So, expect a lot of wild raw fun and some kinky stuff as well.

One of the sexiest things to do in Phuket is just to take a walk on the strip of Bangla Road and find cheesy girls inviting you at the entrance of all the bars and clubs. Those who are into alcohol can also expect a good jolly Pattaya nightlife. Though Pattaya is the proverbial sex capital, Phuket too has its share of erotica, as you may find out at those strip clubs. Black Cat and Tahiti Bar are the top destinations for alcoholics while Soi Crocodile is the club to enter if you want to ogle at skimpily-clad girls setting fire on the dance stage.

For those who do not like so much garishness, a quiet retreat to a spa will be recommended. Alternatively, choose a restaurant for a romantic dinner in some other part of the town. However, for those looking for the real Phuket-ian nightlife, the real party is at Bangla Road. Some people, especially the women, may like to shop a bit while their men can have a peep around. If not all these, just head back to your hotel and romance the night away.

To enjoy the show, sound and lights, you may have to book Phuket packages which are thankfully cheaper and easy to purchase.
